Welcome To Pro Spray Foam Insulations Blog

Pro Spray foam insulations are happy to welcome to our first blog post.

By way of introduction, Pro spray foam insulation is centrally based in Birr, Co. Offaly on the Roscrea Rd. With over 20 years of experience insulating residential, commercial and industrial buildings we decided to focus on solely on spray foam insulation. This decision was made based on extensive research on how to achieve airtightness and low uValues with an affordable and durable insulation material.

Spray foam insulation is an incredibly versatile insulation material. Firstly it can be modified depending on climatic and environmental conditions to maximize performance. Secondly, as its sprayed, it can reach areas that are impossible for other materials reach. Thirdly any lever of uValue can be achieved and spray foam is the most airtight insulation material on the market.

There are 2 types of spray foam:

Open cell is used in residential applications, attic, floor, walls and roof. Open Cell Foam allows water vapour to escape meaning the timbers in your home can ‘breath’ while not allowing any air or heat to escape. Open cell expands to many times its size when applied as the cells are open.

When used in the attic it s important to have a 50mm air gap between foam and roof felt. This is required under building regulation and is designed to make sure that the water vapour escaping from your timber had a place to go and the make sure the felt is not warped or damaged by the insulation. In order to achieve this Pro Spray Foam Insulation employ CPI Foam’s Unique ‘breathable Vent Card System’.

Closed Cell spray foam insulation is used in commercial, industrial and agricultural applications. Closed cell is used on all metal materials, galvanised steel and concrete. Unlike open cell, closed cell’s expansion is less, it does not allow water vapour or air to escape it is rigid and hard wearing. Closed cell spray foam is used to encapsulate asbestos and is widely seen as the best solution where moisture is an issue eg. argi shed or workshop.
